​Project:  Coombe Manor, Hastingleigh

 

​​Astral Ltd was appointed as principal contractor to deliver a comprehensive programme of works that included the extension of the Kitchen Hall, refurbishment of the Oast House, internal alterations and repairs, and a range of external enhancements. This multifaceted project required a sensitive balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern construction techniques, ensuring the functionality of the spaces was improved while preserving and respecting the site’s architectural heritage.

The works included timber frame construction with insulation, oak weatherboarding, and the installation of rooflights to introduce natural light into the newly extended areas. Structural and external works covered demolition, excavation, new foundations, masonry substructures, steelwork, roofing and leadwork, alongside new external steps.

 

Internally, the refurbishment focused on upgraded layouts, new windows and doors, ceilings, dry lining and full redecorations, particularly within the Oast House. Extensive mechanical and electrical installations were completed alongside drainage improvements, resulting in a high-quality, accessible and well-serviced environment that blends heritage character with modern performance.
