​Project:  St Luke's Church, Whyteleafe
 

​​Astral Ltd were appointed to undertake the conservation and internal refurbishment of St Luke’s, a historic building requiring a sensitive approach to restore its original character, improve usability, and secure its continued relevance for future generations.

The works focused on careful heritage repairs and the thoughtful reordering of internal spaces, enhancing functionality while respecting the building’s architectural integrity. Traditional finishes were reinstated throughout, with particular attention paid to the repair and replacement of lath and plaster ceilings, redecoration of walls and ceilings, and the introduction of improved lighting to enhance both visibility and atmosphere.

Internally, pews and choir stalls were reordered to create more flexible and usable space, while long-disused features were brought back into service, including the repair of the church bells following several years of inactivity. New carpeting was installed across key areas to complete the refurbishment, delivering subtle modern improvements while preserving the historic fabric of this important community building.
