Bramley Cottage

Project: Bramley Cottage, Kent
Bramley Cottage, a detached house in the Weald of Kent, was the subject of a comprehensive adaptation and alteration project delivered by Astral Ltd as main contractor, part-funded by a Disabled Facilities Grant from Ashford Borough Council.
The works were designed to enable the occupant to continue living independently, with the ground floor significantly reconfigured to meet their specific accessibility needs.
The internal layout was redesigned to incorporate a carer's bedroom, accessible WC, wet room, and open-plan accessible living and kitchen spaces, with door openings and circulation routes widened throughout to accommodate wheelchair and mobility aid access.
Structural alterations, new groundworks, and cavity walling were carried out to support the revised layout, alongside a purpose-designed accessible kitchen and utility room.
A full mechanical and electrical installation, including a new heating system, complete rewire, and security and AV systems, was delivered alongside new external drainage, hard landscaping, and garden reinstatement. Internal finishes including plastering, tiling, joinery, and full decoration completed the works.
The project demonstrates Astral's experience and sensitivity in delivering life-changing adaptations within occupied residential properties.
